A new video game called “BCFX” (Black College Football Experience) is coming later this fall. They are saying this is not going to just be a Madden game with ‘black’ in the title. However, the game will contain the usual staples of a HBCU (Historically Black College or University) football game:

  • The band
  • Dancers
  • Music playing throughout the game
  • Half-time show
  • Fifth Quarter

When playing the game, the player has control of not only the football team, but the band, dancers, and more.

From the press release:

BCFx is a sports game that captures the unique culture of the black college football experience, fusing advanced video game design with music, and entertainment. Nerjyzed has secured an exclusive 5-year licensing agreement with three HBCU conferences including the SWAC, SIAC, and CIAA, several schools within the MEAC as well as independent HBCUs. The game features more than 40 teams, bands and mascots; interactive halftime shows; realistic stadiums; play-by-play commentary; and ten authentic Classics. For more information about BCFx, the latest game trailers, fight song ring-tones, behind-the-scenes video footage and the BCFx Road Show schedule, go to www.nerjyzed.com.

CEO of Nerjyzed Entertainment, Inc., Jacqueline Beauchamp, had this to say:

“Nerjyzed Entertainment was founded by a veteran team whose mission is to create positive interactive products for the urban market. As HBCU alumni and black college football enthusiasts, we’re proud that BCFx honors our rich tradition and provides an incredibly fun football game for the whole family to play.”

Hmm… I wonder if anyone is going to call this racist like some have called Black History Month racist

Evander Holyfield vs George Foreman again

October 1, 2007

Evander Holyfield beat George Forman once, but can he do it again? The boxer is set to release his own grill to go head to head against the George Foreman Grill. Evander’s will be called the “Evander Holyfield Real Deal Grill”.

What? You thought I was talking about them throwing blows in the ring?

Forman’s grill has made $100 million in sales since 1995. Yeah, he is paid.

Holyfield told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that:

“I’ve got a George Foreman grill. It’s a good grill. But don’t you think the latest grill is supposed to be the best grill?”

So what do you think? Does Holyfield’s grill have a chance?

Evander is set to fight Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow. Do you think he is going to accomplish his goal of retiring as the oldest heavyweight champion? Hmm… I wonder if it was the George Foreman grill that helped him get in shape for the fight.

All this talk about food is getting me hungry.  I might have to use my Foreman Grill to make some tofu fajitas tonight.  What you know about that???

Barry Bonds leaving the Giants

September 22, 2007

The San Francisco Giants have told Barry Bonds that they will not have him back next season. Bonds wrote a response to the team’s decision on his website today:

This journal will be one of my last entries as a San Francisco Giant. Yesterday, I was told by the Giants that they will not be bringing me back for the 2008 season. During the conversation with Peter Magowan I was told that my play this year far exceeded any expectations the Giants had, but that the organization decided this year would be my last season in San Francisco. Although I am disappointed, I’ve always said baseball is a business — and I respect their decision. However, I am saddened and upset that I was not given an earlier opportunity to properly say goodbye to you, my fans, and celebrate with the city throughout the season as I truly believe this was not a last minute decision by the Giants, but one that was made some time ago. I don’t have nor do I want any ill feelings towards the organization, I just wish I had known sooner so we had more time to say our goodbyes and celebrate the best 15 years of my life.

Barry Bonds has been a very controversial figure this season, with allegations of steroid use surrounding him. Bonds passed Hank Aaron’s all-time home run record and thus, cementing his stature in baseball history. The Giants decision is obvious a “we are sick of the crap” move, that, and we want some more young players. Bonds is 43 years old and the oldest on the team. He plans to continue to play, but where, that remains to be seen.

Hmmm…. I wonder just how pissed off he was when they told him?
